A CHARITY 5K Easter Fun Run will take place at Cofton Park on April 9 to raise funds for brain injury charity Headway Birmingham and Solihull.
Several people have already signed up to the event which boasts a route suitable for residents of all abilities whether they want to run, jog or walk.
Among them are some police officers from Longbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team who are planning to run the route in full uniform.
Entrants will each receive a chocolate Easter egg and a unique Easter-themed medal when they complete the course, which loops through the park along paved pathways, grassland and woodland paths.
The charity held its first Easter Fun Run last year, raising more than £1,500 towards its specialist brain injury services and to raise greater awareness of the work of Headway throughout the local area.
Julie Wedgbury, Headway Birmingham and Solihull’s fundraising manager, said: “Our fun run is all about getting out there, enjoying the great outdoors and raising a few pounds for a fantastic cause as you do so.
“The feedback we had from our first event was really positive and we’re pleased to be welcoming back some of last year’s participants for a second time.”
She urged people to sign up quickly as places were strictly limited.
Sgt Lee Howard from Longbridge Neighbourhood Policing Team added: “This promises to be a fun event for a really worthwhile charity, and we’re looking forward to being part of it.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to get out and meet members of our local community.
“Some of us will be running in full uniform, hopefully alongside others in Easter costume.”
Fancy dress is optional but there will be prizes awarded for the best Easter costume as well as to the first men and women over the line.
The Fun Run is an ideal first event following the Couch to 5k programme, for Parkrun enthusiasts and for anyone loving chocolate or medal ‘bling’!
Entry is £10 in advance, or £12 on the day if there are still places available.
All proceeds will go to Headway Birmingham and Solihull.
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
