Bromsgrove and Northfield MPs pay tribute to PC Keith Palmer after Westminster terror attacks

TRIBUTES have been paid to PC Keith Palmer by the MPs in Bromsgrove and Northfield following the terrorist attack on the Houses of Parliament.

PC Palmer was stabbed as he foiled the raid by the terrorist who had earlier driven his 4×4 into innocent victims on Westminster Bridge.

His trail of destruction left two further people dead and 29 injured while the terrorist was shot dead as he entered the Parliamentary estate.

Sajid Javid told The Standard: “My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this horrific terrorist attack.

“I want to pay tribute to the brave police officer who lost his life protecting us and our democracy.

“The calmness and professionalism of the emergency services under pressure was remarkable.

“Any attempt to defeat the values of liberty, democracy and freedom of speech through violence and terror will always fail.”

Richard Burden said: “On the Wednesday evening, after the horrific events in Westminster, the Library of Birmingham was lit up in red white and blue.

“It was both a mark of respect to PC Keith Palmer and to all the other victims of the attack and it was a message of solidarity with the values of freedom and community that are at the core of our Parliamentary democracy.

“There will no doubt be those who want to use Wednesday’s attack as an excuse to sow hatred and division but it is the messages of respect and solidarity contained in the lights on the Library that truly reflect our city and its people, whatever their colour and whatever their faith.”

Before Parliamentary business resumed yesterday, MPs observed a minutes silence in memory of the victims.
