MATTHEW GRIFFIN of Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club won both the under 15 boys’ 60m and 80m hurdles competitions at the Midland Counties Athletics Association meeting on Sunday.
His time for the 60m hurdles at the High Performance Centre at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium was 9.3 seconds and he clocked 11.93 seconds for the 80m hurdles, both of which are new B&R club records.
The previous records had both stood for more than 20 years.
Griffin’s time for the 80m hurdles also ranks him number one in the UK for the time being and could qualify him for English schools’ athletics.
