BROMSGROVE Sporting is hoping to increase its capacity even further for the first leg of its FA Vase semi-final against Cleethorpes Town.
It follows Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Buckland Athletic which was played out in front of a record 2,984 crowd.
Sporting had been allowed to increase their capacity to 3,000 by Worcestershire County Council after 1,487 witnessed the last 16 clash with Bristol Manor Farm.
The 3,000 tickets sold out in days and club chairman Mike Burke told the Standard yesterday (Thursday) he wanted as many fans as possible to enjoy the semi-final.
“We are hoping to either get a capacity increase to 3,500 or 4,000 so more people can come along,” he said.
“Cup runs give the club income and it will go towards our future.
“The money received will give us a boost and perhaps give the manager [Paul Smith] something for next season.
“It gives us a good start to surviving in the level above should we secure promotion at the end of the season.”
The first batch of semi-final tickets will be on sale at Sporting’s home game against Heath Hayes tomorrow (Saturday).
Two tickets per person will be available from midday to those who have bought tickets for the Heath Hayes game.
Season ticket holders and sponsors can buy their tickets on Monday evening – there are no sales on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Tickets then go on sale to the general public on Thursday and Friday from 7pm inside the Rouslers Bar.
The first leg will be played at the Victoria Ground a fortnight tomorrow on March 11 with the return fixture at Cleethorpes a week later on March 18.
There will also be a fans forum at 8pm on Thursday evening where supporters can pitch their questions to manager Paul Smith and the board of directors.
The Standard can also reveal Sporting’s clash against Cleethorpes will be sponsored by Fairfield-based Bumble Hole Foods.
Broad Street DIY sponsored the previous encounter with Buckland Athletic and staff got to choose the man of the match, selecting Dan Morris.
Paul Warren, the company’s managing director, said it was a difficult decision.
“There was a case to be made for several of the players after a brilliant performance by The Rouslers.
“However, we selected Dan because he was up against a very physical threat in Buckland Athletic, but didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon.
“He provided a calmness and a platform for his teammates to build attacks from.”
