AN EXTENSION to Bromsgrove’s Millfields First School has been completed, creating two new classrooms and enabling the school to take an extra 60 pupils, improving teaching facilities and extending the car park.
Improvements to nearby roads were also made so children and parents could walk to the school easier, providing opportunities to improve health and reduce congestion.
Funding was provided by Worcestershire County Council and Place Partnership Ltd managed the project and work began in August 2015.
Headteacher Paul Gibbs said: “Everyone at the school is delighted with the new extension.
“Children and teachers have already enjoyed the benefits of the new building that has been designed to sit sympathetically within a landscaped area at the back of the school.”
Coun Marc Bayliss, cabinet member with responsibility for children and families, said: “We were delighted to fund the recent extension of Millfields First School. “The increased capacity and improved facilities will serve the local community well and help ensure children can study in the best environment.
“The new facilities look fabulous and I hope staff, pupils and parents will enjoy them.”
