Have your say at Bromsgrove Library tomorrow about where to extract minerals from across Worcestershire

BROMSGROVE residents can have their say on how and where minerals are extracted in the county at a special event taking place tomorrow (Saturday).

Worcestershire County Council is holding an information Open Day between 10am and 3.30pm at Bromsgrove Library where people can find out more about how they can help shape the new Minerals Local Plan that will guide how much and which minerals can be extracted in county in the future.

Residents, parish councils and other interested parties are urged to drop in and ask any questions about the consultation.

As an essential raw material for the construction industry, minerals are important for local growth and the county council has a national requirement to contribute towards national supplies.

This is the third consultation on the Mineral Local Plan and sets out in more detail how much and what minerals we need to be able to supply, where minerals should be extracted, how sites should be ‘restored’ when working has finished and how minerals development should protect and enhance Worcestershire’s people and places.

People will be able to add their views to the consultation until March 8, 2017.
