THE OWNER of the popular snack van in the A38 layby in Rubery spread the festive cheer when he donated all of his Christmas Eve takings to charity.

Nicholas Husband gave the proceeds to The Albert Street Project which provides food, clothing and a friendly face to the homeless and less fortunate people in Birmingham City Centre.

Nick also had Father Christmas and his sleigh turn up for a bacon butty before the man in the big red suit embarked on his heavy night delivering presents.

Susan O’Leary, who owns the Polly Put the Kettle On in Rubery village, said: “Well done Nick one day off a year and for donating funds to such a good cause.”
