TODAY (Saturday) Festive Fairfield’s Christmas Celebration kicks off in the village.

There will be seven events between now and new year’s eve, aimed at celebrating the festive season.

It has been organised by the Fairfield Village Community Association, St Mark’s Church and Fairfield Village Hall Management Committee and is supported by the National Lottery’s Celebration Fund.

Friends and families from Fairfield and the surrounding area are invited to join Festive Fairfield’s Christmas Celebration.

Tonight (Saturday) at 6.30pm there is the Entertainment Extravaganza which stars circus performer Wolly, vocalist Jo Higgett, organist Michael Carter and contributions from local people. There will be a guest appearance by Father Christmas and two lucky families will compete in Play Your Crackerjack Cards Right. Admission is £3 for adults, £2 for under 16s and £10 for a family ticket – all pay on the door.

Tomorrow (Sunday), there will be Lessons and Carols at St Mark’s Church at 6.30pm which will enable residents to prepare for Christmas with traditional carols and readings

Wednesday (December 21), there will be carols around the Christmas tree at 7pm at Fairfield Village Hall. As well as the seasonal song, there will also be free mulled wine, soup and mice pies.

On Christmas Eve (December 24), there will be a crib service at 4pm at St Mark’s Church, where children will tell the story of the Nativity. Traditional Christmas carols will also be sang. There will also be Christmas Eve Communion at St Mark’s Church at 9pm.

On Christmas Day there will be a family service at St Mark’s Church at 10am. Those who go along will be able to open one of their presents in church and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

And on new year’s eve (Saturday, December 31), there will be a party at Fairfield Village Hall from 8pm to 12.30am. There will be stage and close up magic with Kris Krendo (a member of the Magic Circle for the last 25 years), plus The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, party games and a disco. Admission is £10 for adults, with under 16s going free.

Tickets are available from the shop in Fairfield village centre.
