A BROMSGROVE care home is throwing open its doors on Christmas Day to older people who have no one to spend it with.
Those in Bromsgrove who would otherwise be alone are being urged to go along to Heathbrook House, Worcester Road, Stoke Heath, and enjoy festive food and fun in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The Bupa home has teamed up with Community Christmas, a charity which believes no elderly person in the UK should be alone on Christmas Day unless it is their choice.
Its aim is to reduce isolation among older people at a time when they can feel particularly lonely.
Heathbrook House’s manager Simon Brown said: “We know loneliness is a growing issue for elderly people – at Christmas and all year round.
“It’s great that we are in a position to support Community Christmas by opening our doors on Christmas Day to offer our elderly community somewhere they can enjoy some festive food and fun in the company of others.
“I know our residents are looking forward to welcoming some new faces to the table on Christmas Day.”
