A PENSIONER has been assaulted with a walking stick while lying in bed during an aggravated burglary in Catshill.

Shortly before 3am on Monday (December 5), two men entered the house on Bourne Avenue through the front door, which was unlocked.

They threatened the man, who was in his 70s, with a metal bar and walking stick, before hitting him and demanding money.

The raiders, who were in their 30s and wearing grey shirts, jeans, grey jackets and balaclavas, made off with cigarettes, a phone and a wallet.

The man suffered bruising to his shoulder.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity or has information which would help with their inquiries is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 38S of 5 December.
