THERE were so many seasonal activities to be enjoyed at Avoncroft’s annual Candlelit Christmas on Saturday (December 3).
And, with more than 700 advanced tickets bought, residents and visitors were out in force to have as much festive fun as possible.
There were seasonal songs in abundance at the Bringsty Chapel with a mass singalong by Got2Sing, featuring White Christmas, Jingle Bells, Wonderful Christmastime and I wish it Could Be Christmas Everyday.
Eye on the Past gave visitors an insight into a Tudor Christmas and Yuletides from the Victorian era and the 1950s were also on offer.
Festive fare included mulled wine, mulled cider, roast chestnuts and hot pork rolls.
Added entertainment was provided by Blackwell Concert Band, the Vintage Class Singers and the Harvington Bell Ringers.
There was also a snow machine, wreath making, Morris dancing, the chance to see a glass-blower making baubles and, of course, the opportunity to see Father Christmas in his grotto.
There were rides on the miniature steam train and an added activity for 2016 on a fantastic night of festive entertainment – the ‘human fruit machine’.
The Candlelit Christmas is one of many Yuletide events to be held at Avoncroft this festive season.
From December 6, visitors can go back to see traditional Christmases from throughout different eras and from December 9,
there are the Christmas Elves event – youngsters can see Father Christmas in his grotto and participate in festive activities.
On December 17, there will be the Avoncroft Carol Service in the Mission Church and on December 18 there will be ‘Christmas Ghost Stories’.
