OLD and young came together for a special Remembrance and Armistice event at Heathbrook House Care Home in Bromsgrove last Friday (November 11) as residents and staff welcomed pupils from Charford First School.

There were 31 seven and eight-year-olds from year three and two teachers and ten residents from the home took part.

Participants made felt poppies, painted salt dough poppies and decorated poppy biscuits and the school sang a poignant song to remember the war dead.

A spokesperson for the home said: “We had some really good feedback – the staff and residents had a lovely time with the children and listening to them singing.

“One resident in particular really enjoyed showing the children how to make the felt poppies.”

The home was chosen by its head office to hold the event as there were quite a few residents and their families who spent time serving in the armed forces.
