FOUR eight year-old boys from St Peter’s CE First School have come up with an idea to raise money for a local childen’s cancer charity.

Jacob, Harry, James and Zach raised £90 for the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust when they held a competition to design a gingerbread man.

For a small donation, children were able to create gingerbread designs on paper.

They were then invited to make their creations using coloured icing, smarties, marshmallows, strawberry string and other confectionary.

Due to the overwhelming response the year four boys, with the assistance of deputy head Miss Colclough, gave their time during breaks to organise and assist children taking part in the colourful activity.

Miss Colclough said: “When the boys first came to me with their idea, I knew it would be popular and was very happy to support them.

“We are very proud of what the boys and children have achieved, especially in their decision to donate the profits to a local charity.”

The boys selected a winner from each year group who were presented with a handmade certificate for their achievement.
