BROMSGROVE & District Football League side Winyates FC have secured a high-profile sponsorship with a local branch of German car manufacturer Audi.

Winyates, who have been going for ten years, have teamed up with Audi Worcester thanks to the help of Phil Bligh, the branch’s head of business.

Matthew Phillips, who played for the club in its early years before being forced to retire due to a serious knee injury, became manager in 2010 and Winyates have enjoyed steady progress since then.

Three years later Peter Drinkhall joined as assistant manager and Matthew’s father Peter took over as chairman, enabling the management duo to focus on team affairs.

First team manager Matthew said: “We have a great bunch of lads at Winyates who all work hard and we are very grateful to Audi for their support.”

Winyates started life in the bottom division of the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination as Winyates Wanderers and have made steady progress over the years.

However, due to the limited number of teams in the Redditch League for 2016/17, the club decided to switch to the BDFL which has 42 teams split across four divisions and offers a plethora of cup competitions.
