KIIND-HEARTED nursing staff at a Bromsgrove care home have raised £300 to help people living with dementia by taking part in a major charity event.

Redwood House Residential Home in Barnt Green entered a small team into the popular 5K Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk in Birmingham.

Hundreds of people took part in the annual fund-raising event which started and finished at Cannon Hill Park.

The money raised will provide support and help fund research into a cure for the disease.

Tracy O’Sullivan, care home manager at Redwood House, said: “Dementia is a subject very close to our hearts as many of our residents at Redwood House suffer with the disease.

“Our carers give amazing support to those residents everyday and understand what is required to help make their lives as comfortable as possible.

“Taking part in the charity walk was therefore any easy decision to make as we were determined to do our bit and make a contribution.

“We had some great fun supporting the charity but there were lots of sore feet by the end of the day.”

Owned by the Clarendon Care Group, Redwood House is registered with the Care Quality Commission for 27 residents.

It provides specialist care for the elderly and is a recognised specialist in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
