THE HEADTEACHER of South Bromsgrove High School has completed his 1,000-mile cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats, raising £1,300 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Paul Topping undertook the gruelling ride in memory of his dad who passed away in May.

He said: “The challenge provided a focus for me and helped me come to terms with dad’s passing.

“Despite the intensity of riding 100 miles a day for ten days, there was time for reflection and I found this very useful.”

The ride took in the hills in Cornwall and Devon, The Lake District and The Cairngorms. ”

Although some of the climbs were punishing – especially to the ski centres in Scotland – there were so many exhilarating experiences to remember, not least crossing the Clifton, Severn, and Kessock bridges”.

“People have been extremely supportive and I would like to thank all who have donated for their generosity.”
