A PREGNANT mum and her nine-month-old son were threatened at knifepoint during an attempted robbery in Frankley.
The incident, involving the 18-year-old victim, happened at 9.30pm on Wednesday (May 11) when the pair were approached by four men in Arden Road.
After following her, the gang confronted her and demanded cash and her mobile phone.
One of them pulled out a knife while the others patted her down and searched her pockets.
When they found nothing, one of the men took the pushchair and began to run around in circles whilst singing nursery rhymes. The actions led to the pushchair being knocked over.
The pair were checked over by medics and, fortunately, both were uninjured although considerably shaken.
The four were last seen heading towards the Cockhill area.
Two of the men were black and all four of them were wearing dark clothing and had masks over their faces.
Det Insp John Askew, who is investigating the attack, said: “It was a shocking attack, on a busy road against a heavily pregnant woman and her young child. We need to identify the offenders before they are able to attack again.”
And he urged anyone who knew was responsible to contact him at Bournville Lane Police Station on 101, by e-mailing [email protected] or by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
