A RALLYING call has gone out to residents across Bromsgrove district, urging them to tidy up their neighbourhoods as part of a clean scheme ahead of HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.
‘Clean for the Queen’ has been organised by Keep Britain Tidy and is being backed by Bromsgrove District Council, which is offering to lend equipment to people and groups to give them a helping hand.
The ‘spring clean’ events are being held all over the country throughout Febuary and March so neighbourhoods will be sparkling for when Her Majesty reaches her marvellous milestone on April 21.
Those organising litter-picks for their area will be able to get litter-pickers and special ‘Clean for the Queen’ refuse bags, along with help, advice and support from the district council.
Coun Peter Whittaker, the portfolio holder for environmental services the litter-picks would help people show some local community spirit and raise awareness of the issue of litter which costs Bromsgrove Distrcit Council almost £900,000-a-year to clean up.
