BARNT GREEN Tennis Club enjoyed a variable weekend of success as the Mixed-B team claimed victory but the Men’s A failed to win a single set in their game.
The Mixed-B team secured a comfortable win away to Bromsgrove D in Division Six of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League, while the Men’s A slumped to a 4-0 home defeat to title-challenging Manor Park A in Division One.
James Flynn and Linda Garvin teamed up to win both rubbers on Saturday for the mixed team with minimal fuss, while the married couple of Pat and Martyn Langston were in perfect harmony as they came away with two comfortable victories.
However, it was a completely opposite story on Sunday morning as the men failed to win a set at home against a Manor Park team who were not put off by the windy conditions.
They quickly dispatched the first pair of Paul Cowie and Paul Bill before dispatching the second pair of James Flynn and James Hodges in easy fashion.
