Disappointing Boars fall for 63

IT WAS bad day at the office for struggling Bromsgrove as they were skittled for just 63 runs against Moseley in Division One of the Birmingham League.

The Boars appeared to have given themselves a chance to beating the Birmingham side as they restricted them to 199 on Saturday.

But what came after the tea break probably surprised everyone involved. Ash Newfield and James Ganderton were the only men to reach double figures as Bromsgrove’s batters failed to rise to the occasion.

Jono Watts, meanwhile, had a field day as he helped himself to 5-31, while Mark Adair claimed three wickets and Inderpal Singh Nandra finished off the tail to complete the rout.

Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Seconds moved up to fourth in the table after a narrow victory over Dorridge. They had Adam Jones to thank as he top scored with an unbeaten 46 as the Boars reached their target with two wickets to spare.

Earlier, Alex Wilkinson took 4-41 and Matt Banham 3-45 as Dorridge were restricted to 168 in the first innings.

Rich Hope showed a return to form with the bat as he top scored for the Thirds in their match against Halesowen. Hope made 60 and was well supported by Collins (44), Burrows (43) and Smith (41) as the Boars reached 246.

Halesowen’s reply all but fizzled out once Sam Johnson had bowled danger man Tom Williams. Chris Burford followed up with his third five-wicket haul of the year.
