Bromsgrove relay raises stroke awareness

STROKE survivors, staff and volunteers from Bromsgrove’s Life After Stroke Centre and residents turned Bromsgrove purple to raise awareness of stroke.

The ‘walking purple relay’ took participants from the Church Lane site to the town centre as part of Action on Stroke Month which runs throughout May.

Johanne Hughes, from the Stroke Association, said: “We were thrilled with the turn-out of our relay race which turned Bromsgrove purple for stroke.

“The team of stroke survivors, carers, volunteers, and supporters made a huge difference.

“We held our purple relay to let the community know about the Stroke Association’s Action on Stroke Month 2015.

“During the month of May the charity aims to raise awareness of the impact of stroke and provide prevention advice to communities around the country.”

She added cash raised during May would help ensure the charity would be there for the thousands of stroke survivors and their families and carers who needed it.
