A MAN has been arrested after a hit and run crash in Lickey last Friday in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured.
The collision, involving a Triumph motorbike and white Ford Fiesta, happened at the junction of Old Birmingham Road, Twatling Road and Monument Lane.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta failed to stop at the scene. The vehicle was later found abandoned on Monument Lane and was recovered by police.
The motorcyclist was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries.
The man in his 50s remains in hospital with life changing injuries. But his condition is stable at this time and he is recovering.
Extensive enquiries immediately began following the collision, and a man was arrested the following day (Saturday, July 18).
The 21-year-old was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, failing to report a collision, driving other than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
He has since been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses, and for CCTV and dash cam footage which may show either vehicle in the moments before the collision, or during.
A West Mercia Police spokeseperson said: “If you were travelling on Twatling Road, Old Birmingham Road, Rose Hill or Monument Lane around the time of the collision, officers ask for you to review your dash cam footage to see if you have captured anything which may help.”
