YOUNG performers had a Hollywood-style red carpet cinema premiere to celebrate six months since Iconic Theatre School opened in Rubery, writes Seren Mathews.
Alongside family members, the group got to watch themselves on the big screen.
From their very first class, the students started working towards filming a professional musical production which was viewed during the exclusive cinema premiere.
The event boasted a red carpet, photographers, interviews and finished with the screening of their completed film.
The young children, aged four and upwards, performed a range of songs and scenes inspired by famous musicals worldwide.
These included The Greatest Showman, Wicked, Matilda, Frozen, The Lion King and Six.
Zane Lightfoot, the theatre school’s co-founder, said: “Many had never performed before joining us, making the journey from first rehearsal to cinema premiere even more remarkable.
“Our aim has always been to build confidence, creativity and friendships while giving local children opportunities they may never have imagined possible.
“Seeing the excitement on their faces as they arrived at the cinema in their premiere outfits was something none of us will ever forget.”
“As far as we’re aware, this is a unique project for a local theatre school and something we’re incredibly proud to have brought to the young people of our community.”
The event was a nice way to bring together families and the students allowing themselves to see their work and be proud of it, a truly special achievement.
