BROMSGROVE CC remain top of the table following a dominant display with the bat in a winning draw against Astwood Bank.

A century from Jayden Levitt (112) and half-century from Tom Green (66) saw the Boars reach 273 all out from their 50 overs at St. Godwalds Park.

And the Boars restricted Astwood Bank to 196-8 in reply as Connor Andrews and Abdullah Ejaz took three wickets apiece.

The result means Bromsgrove remain top of the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table, five points clear of Brockhampton.

Astwood Bank won the toss and put Bromsgrove into bat as openers Levitt and Adeel Sajid (38) put on a commanding 124-run first-wicket stand.

Levitt hit 12 fours and a six in a 101-ball innings en route to a century while Sajid found the rope five times as Theo Needles (4-62) accounted for both openers.

Sajid’s departure from the crease sparked a mini-collapse at the home side slumped from 131-1 to 156-5.

However, Green revived the innings with eight boundaries ion a 79-ball knock as the Boars pushed beyond the 250-run mark by the end of their 50 overs.

The visitors made a strong start in reply as openers Jake Browning (29) and Harry Summers (30) put on 51 runs for the first wicket.

And Tom Underhill (34) kept the runs flowing before Andrews bowled Summers and Michael Desmond (0) in consecutive balls as he trapped the latter LBW.

Further runs from Matty Johnson (37) and Alan White (42) moved Astwood Bank close to the 200-run mark with the visitors well behind the required run rate.

Ejaz took the crucial wickets of Underhill, Johnson and White while Jude Mitchell (1-33) and Jack White (1-61) also took scalps.

The Boars bowled economically in the final few overs, conceding just 10 runs and taking two wickets in the last five overs to seal a winning draw.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Stourport-On-Severn on Saturday, June 6 with play to begin at 12pm (midday) at the Eddie Giles Main Square.
