WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s Library Service has launched an online Reading Pledge Wall for people to share their reading goals for the year, writes Andres De Miguel.
As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, the council is encouraging Worcestershire residents of all ages to reflect on their reading habits and draw inspiration from readers in their local community.
Pledges can be as simple as trying a new genre, reading more often or participating in library events.
Coun Ian Cresswell, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for environment and communities, said: “The Reading Pledge Wall is a fantastic way to set a reading goal and share it with others.
“Whether it’s picking up a book more often, trying a new genre, or reading together as a family, every pledge celebrates the joy of reading.”
Those wishing to get involved with the National Year of Reading 2026 are being urged to visit their local library for access to thousands of free books, ebooks, and audiobooks.
Reading regularly can boost children’s imagination and confidence, support adult wellbeing and reduce stress.
Additions to the Reading Pledge Wall can be made either at the local library or online at: capublic.worcestershire.gov.uk/ReadingPledgeWall/ – people can use the form to make their own pledge or read some made by other people.
