BROMSGROVE Rugby Club remembered former teammate Scott Morris in a special match against Shrewsbury Rugby Club.

The Bromsgrove Crusaders, the club’s veterans team, paid tribute to Morris who died after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in December 2024.

The Scott Morris MND memorial game took place at Shrewsbury’s Sundorne Castle ground.

Bromsgrove’s team featured former captain Dave King and his two sons Bobby and Billy who all played on the pitch at the same time.

The King’s took to the pitch as a family after both of Dave’s sons recently returned from shoulder injuries while Billy made his senior debut for the Boars.

Dave said: “I’ve waited a long time for this to happen and it’s a very special day for all of us, and as a father to be able to share this experience will stay with me forever.”

Both Bobby and Billy have played for the club since the age of four-years-old and have played in every age group side at Bromsgrove from the under-five Colts through to the senior team.

Bobby captained the club’s academy team and also represented Worcestershire and North Midlands under-17s while Billy captained both teams at under-18 level.

Crusaders captain, Martin Lakeman said: “One of the grounding principles of the Crusaders is to make dreams come true.

“I’ve had the privilege of seeing a number of fathers have the opportunity to play this special game with their sons.

“It is and was a special moment.”
