THE QUIZ for a Cause was held at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club last Friday for the Harry Bennett HB9 Foundation.

The cash came from local businesses sponsoring each round of the quiz, team entry fees and a well-supported raffle on the night with the club rounding it up to £700.

Nine rounds of questions covered everything from literature and geography to music, history and TV and film.

Teams battled it out in good spirits, with plenty of laughs along the way.

Quiz master Alex Crawford, supported by his mum, kept the energy high throughout the evening, while JW Catering ensured quizzers stayed fuelled with burgers, hot dogs and fries.

Competition was tight until the end when The Frog Squad won with 72 points, taking home the bespoke winner’s slate. That was produced and donated by STMS Merchandise.

Corinthians Mean Machine was a close second on 70 points and the club’s own team, CJ Promotions You May Have Heard of Us just half a point back in third place.

The Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club’s general manager Mark Goddard said: “It’s evenings like this that show the power of community coming together to support a local charity.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the businesses who sponsored rounds and donated raffle prizes and to everyone who helped behind the scenes to make the night such a success.”

The club chose to support HB9 last year with an ambitious £5,000 fundraising target. By the end of 2025, they were short of that goal so kept going into 2026.

Thanks to quiz night success, the total raised now stands at £4,633 with just £367 needed to reach the £5,000 milestone.

The HB9 Foundation was established in memory of Bromsgrove teenager Harry Bennett, who died from sepsis in 2020 at just 16 years old.

The charity honours Harry’s passion for sport and his belief in its power to change lives, supporting individuals and teams so more young people can benefit from the physical and mental advantages of playing grassroots sport.
