HEART of Worcestershire College (HoW College) will be celebrating Colleges Week 2026 with a series of events across its four campuses, to showcase the positive impact of further education.
This national awareness week, from Monday March 2 from March 6 is led by the Association of Colleges (AoC).
Each day focuses on a key theme that showcases the important role colleges play in shaping the future:
Monday – Adult Learners
HoW will host a Student Conference at the Redditch campus, providing a platform for students to share their experiences and ideas in discussions.
The overall theme of this day will celebrate adult learners who have returned to education for career changes, short courses, upskilling, or for lifelong learners.
Tuesday – Young People
The spotlight on Tuesday is on the young people who gain vocational and academic skills, building confidence to set them up for apprenticeships, employment, and higher education, as well as the partnerships that give younger students early access to technical learning.
Michelle Dowse, CEO and principal at HoW College will be part of a panel for the webinar from 4pm until 5pm ‘Beyond qualifications: a 16-18 curriculum guarantee’, where the discussion will centre around what colleges should be offering all 16-18 year students.
Wednesday – Apprentices of all Ages
Apprentices of all ages are the focus on Wednesday to highlight the skills that are brought to life in the workplace alongside classroom learning, and spotlighting the partner employers who support them.
HoW College will participate in the Skills Show in Worcester, an external event that highlights the essential skills needed to build safer and stronger communities.
Thursday – Higher Education Learners
Higher Education learners are working towards technical and academic qualifications at level 4 and above, and HoW College’s participation in the Skills Show in Worcester is an opportunity to reinforce the various progression routes that students can take following their course.
Friday – Your College Community
The sense of community is important to HoW College, with an emphasis on strategic partners that include Rubicon Leisure, Benniman Ltd, The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), and more.
The aim of these partners is to promote career opportunities and curriculum development within various industries such as construction, health and social, leisure and hospitality.
Ms Dowse said: “Colleges Week is an important opportunity for us to highlight the invaluable role that colleges like HoW College play in empowering individuals, shaping communities, and driving economic growth.
“This week is a celebration of all the ways we support students – from adult learners seeking to change careers, young people who are exploring their pathways, and apprentices who are gaining hands-on experience in the workplace.
“We’re so glad to be part of this national campaign to showcase our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, accessible education.”
