BROMSGROVE Swimming Club (BSC) won 11 gold medals competing at the Worcester County Championships at Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

Some 45 Bromsgrove swimmers took to the water at the County Championships – an increase from 25 qualifiers at last year’s event.

Bromsgrove athletes achieved an 81 per cent personal best (PB) rate while many swimmers achieved a 100 per cent PB record across all of their races.

In total, BSC qualified for 62 finals and won 11 gold, five silver and eight bronze medals along with eight junior medals and three senior medals.

Some of the standout achievements saw Sam McDonald become junior county champion while Luke Jones broke the club record in the 100m breaststroke on his way to the senior title.

And Darcey Hackett broke both the 50m freestyle county record and 50m butterfly county record in the 13-year-old category.

BSC head coach, Morgan King said every swimmer who competed should be incredibly proud of themselves after representing the club with pride and professionalism.
