HOPWOOD Swifts title hopes took a dent following a frustrating goalless draw against North Solihull, writes Neil Gordon.
For only the second time this season, second-placed Swifts failed to find the net at Charford Road.
The result leaves Hopwood eight points behind leaders Sutton United in Division One of the Birmingham and District Football League.
Swifts manager Matt Lewis said: “I’m really disappointed with the result but can’t knock any of the players for their effort.
“We had enough chances to win the game, but it wasn’t our day.
“I’m pleased we kept a clean sheet and our man of the match was goalkeeper Josh Thompson for a solid display.”
In the division’s only other game, title favourites Sutton thrashed Silhill 5-1 with goals from Joss Amiss, Peter Bannister, James Dixon, Jack Nation and substitute Connor Duke, while Alexander O’Neill grabbed Silhill’s consolation.
Leaders United remain unbeaten after 11 games with 27 points after recording eight wins and three draws.
And Bromsgrove Rovers AFC remain bottom of Division One with three points from four games, but now have as many as seven games in hand.
Hopwood face Desi at Aston University’s Birmingham Road Campus on Saturday, February, 14. Kick-off is at 2.30pm and admission free.
