A SPRIGHTLY Bromsgrove resident has celebrated his 105th birthday with a card from The King and Queen and a big party at Wayside Care Home where he lives.
Norman Clarke, who reached the marvellous milestone last week, grew up in Hanbury initially and then in Bromsgrove from 1927.
He attended Catshill First School and then Watt Close (now St John’s Middle School) before becoming a builders’ labourer.

After that, Norman worked at Garringtons and served in the RAF during the Second World War with tours in Sudan and North Africa.
He was also a dispatch rider and used to ride horses.
In his leisure time, he used to enjoy building models, going fishing and jigsaws.
Norman married his wife Winnifred Bayliss at St Mary’s Church in Hanbury.
He has two sons, Alfred and Leslie, three grandchildren – April, Cameron and Jordan – and seven great grandchildren – Caidon, Nyla, Oaklyn, Lily, Lexi, Leo and Ayden.
At the party, Ray Giles sang songs old and new to help him celebrate his big day.
