Worcestershire Health Walks keep volunteers warm and appreciated this winter

WITH Winter well and truly here, Worcestershire Health Walks at the County Council is saying a big thank you to its brilliant volunteer walk leaders by giving them warm, branded fleeces.

These fleeces are a simple but heartfelt way to show appreciation for the volunteers who keep the popular walking programme running all year round.

They will help leaders stay cosy on colder days and make it easy for new walkers to spot and feel welcomed.

Worcestershire Health Walks offers plenty of chances to get moving, with 30 groups delivering 45 weekly walks across the county. More than 3,400 people take part in around 225 walks each month.

Councillor Satinder Bell, cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: “A huge thank you to all our Health Walk leaders.

“This fantastic scheme brings people together to walk, make friends and feel part of a community. It simply wouldn’t happen without the kindness and commitment of our volunteers.”

Many of us could benefit from being a little more active. Recently released research from the Harvard Ageing Brain Study showed that even small increases in daily steps may help slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
