Bel Canto Singers tuning up for Christmas Concert in group's 35th anniversary year

A CONCERT was held by The Bel Canto Singers to celebrate the group’s 35th anniversary and members are now tuning up ready for its Christmas event.

The four-part harmony choir from Redditch held its celebratory concert in September which was expertly led by new musical director Ollie Neale.

The evening featured music to showcase the group’s full range of musical genres – from the choral piece, Ave Verum Corpus and tributes to The Everley Brothers and Neil Young to a rousing medley from Phantom of the Opera and much more.

The 200 strong audience was also treated to some amazing solos from The Bel Canto pianist, Wendy Quirk and her husband John.

The concert was held in Routh Hall, Bromsgrove School which was a beautiful venue and made for a joyous occasion celebrating the milestone anniversary.

Next Saturday, December 6, Bel Canto will be holding its Christmas Concert in All Saints Church Bromsgrove.

As usual there will be a wide variety of Christmas music, something for everyone and a chance to sing along with the choir.

Tickets will be £10 each, including a glass of wine or a soft drink and a seasonal mince pie.

Tickets can be obtained from any choir member, by contacting the choir via its website: belcantosingers.org.uk or by calling 07985 238334.

The choir will guarantee attendees a wonderful pre-Christmas evening of delights and would love to see as many people as possible there.

Each year the choir nominates a chosen charity to support, which it feels is very important and the charity nominated for support in 2024/25 was Redditch Find Your Voice, Parkinsons UK – an activity group helping Parkinsons sufferers to improve their vocal skills in a relaxed friendly environment.

Bel Canto was able to present them with a cheque for £650.

This coming year, 2025/26, the choir will be supporting Where Next, a Redditch based charity providing work experience for people with learning disabilities.

All of the choir’s performances, including the 35th anniversary concert, can also be heard on the Bel Canto website.
