BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC are looking to extend their unbeaten run and reach round four of the Intermediate Cup when entertaining FC Stratford this weekend, writes Neil Gordon.

Rovers will be hoping to make it five straight victories when facing fellow Birmingham and District Football League Division One outfit FC Stratford, at the club’s former home of Charford Road.

The third round tie will take place at South Bromsgrove High School, where Rovers spent two seasons, due to a waterlogged pitch at the club’s new base in Studley.

The Greens go into the cup tie having hit 22 goals in their previous four cup and league games as they continue to adjust to life in Division One, after accepting close-season promotion from Division Two.

After a slow start to the campaign, which saw Bromsgrove rooted to the bottom of the table, the side has now settled and collected nine points from five league games to climb the table to fourth, just three points behind leaders Hopwood Swifts.

Progress has also been made in three cup competitions with victories recorded in the Intermediate, Senior and Saturday Amateur Cups’ despite injuries impacting on team selection.

Rovers AFC manager Spencer Machin said: “Despite having a few players out injured we have a very good squad and have enjoyed a good run of results recently.

“We have a run of cup games coming up this side of Christmas and should hopefully have a full squad to choose from shortly.

“We did well to get three points against Kingston Alliance in our last league game, coming from behind three times to win 4-3.

“We are now starting to move up the table after being bottom three or four weeks ago.”

And the club’s reserve side is also looking to make it four consecutive wins when they face Silhill C in Division Four of the Birmingham and Football League tomorrow (Saturday).

The side currently sits ninth in the table on seven points after achieving promotion to Division Four from Division Six during close-season league restructuring, after the side’s inaugural season playing football.

Bromsgrove entertain FC Stratford on Saturday, November 15. Kick-off is 2pm at Charford Road and admission free.
