RUBERY Sheldon John Connolly (RSJC) Crown Green Bowls Club are celebrating after three of their teams secured promotion at the end of the 2025 season.

A trio of the club’s 15 teams ended the season in style as RSJC’s South West Birmingham League over-60s A team, Heart of England League over-60s B team and Yardley Wood Superleague A team all achieved promotion.

The over-60s A team won Division Four of the South West Birmingham League as club stalwart Roy Phillips topped the division averages.

And RSJC’s Heart of England League over-60s B team claimed the Division Six title to secure promotion for the first time.

The B team only formed in 2023 and includes a number of new bowlers to the sport.

RSJC’s Yardley Wood Superleague A team won their division for the second year in a row.

The team pipped Northfield’s Black Horse to top spot by a single point and will play in Division One next year.

And the club’s ladies team finished as runners-up to Rowley Labour in Division One of the Dudley and District Ladies League.

RSJC players Ellen Aindow, Amy Dandy and Charlotte Richards all appeared in the top-10 of the division averages.

Club secretary, Aindow said: “We are really proud of our achievements this year at RSJC, especially as the hot summer meant our green was very quick and challenging for most of the season.

“Thanks go out to all our bowlers, volunteers, and supporters who put their time in. May it continue in 2026.”
