THE ANNUAL General Meeting of the Bromsgrove Royal British Legion is set to take place at 8pm on October 13 and the branch has launched an urgent appeal to find a new secretary.
The current secretary, Michael, who has served many years has stood down.
The stalwart has become a lay minister and, as a result, no longer has the time to be the branch secretary.
Bromsgrove RBL Chairman Jeff Evans said: “We have held on to Michael for as long as we can.
“We didn’t want to let him go, but we understand his time is now being taken up more and more by his new vocation.
“Michael has been with the Branch for many years and a huge supporter during Poppy Appeal.
“We are grateful for his loyal years of service.”
Michael added: “I would like to reach my 40 years Service Award for the Poppy Appeal and I only have a couple of years to go.
“The secretary’s job is not onerous role and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time – they are a friendly lot.
“I shall still attend meetings when I can.”
Jeff added: “To function as a branch, we need a secretary.
“So, if there is someone who wishes to come forward and can give up a couple of hours a month, please get in touch.”
Anyone who can help can email Jeff at: [email protected] to register their interest and find out more about the role.
The Bromsgrove Royal British Legion AGM will take place at St John’s Church Hall.
