AN ORGANISATION dedicated to improving access to competitive football among the diabetes community has been shortlisted for a grant scheme.
The Diabetes Football Community (TDFC) is in with a chance of securing funding through the Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme and it needs the public’s help to win.
The programme offers grants of up to £1,500 to local projects focused on children and young people.
TDFC, a Worcestershire-based Community Interest Company, supports people living with type 1 diabetes through football, education and peer support. Those visiting Tesco stores across the county can now vote for TDFC in the funding scheme.
If successful, the funding will go towards football activities, workshops and community events designed to give children and teens with diabetes the confidence and tools to thrive.
Founder and director Chris Bright said: “Being shortlisted is a huge moment for our community.
“This grant would help us continue creating safe, inclusive football spaces in Worcestershire for young people living with diabetes.”
Voting is now open until the end of September, with customers using blue tokens at checkout to cast their vote. Results will be announced in October, with the organisation gaining the most votes receiving the top award.
Tesco’s Stronger Starts, delivered in partnership with Groundwork UK, has already supported more than 67,000 projects nationwide with over £117million in grants.
