PLENTY of fun was had at a summer fete held at Deelands Hall in Rubery which was attended by around 250 people.
The event was organised by Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group.
The fete was aimed at engaging the local community through free activities whilst letting them know about the variety of support available for them to access through Clarion Futures.
This support included members of each team from jobs and training, money guidance, digital inclusion, tenancy sustainment, tenancy repairs and communities.
Other local organisations which attended included Axis, Digikick, Cock Hill Cafe Church and the Birmingham Community Boxing Project.
Among the activities which drew in the crowds were a boxing punch ball machine which led to ‘best punch’ competitions for adults and children, face painting, tombola, arts and craft activities and sweet pong (ball pong with sweets instead of beer).
DJ Dave delighted the crowd with his disco and party games and there were stalls selling handcrafted gifts, toys and books.
There were free ice creams, refreshments and fish and chips supplied by Rubery Fish Bar and there was a free draw where residents could win a £25 Shopping voucher.
Zoe Lee, the employment support officer (Midlands) for Clarion Jobs and Training, said: “The event could not have gone ahead without the support of volunteers from Deelands Hall including Anita and Julie and Deanne Hastilow and Bobbi Williams from the local community.”
