BROMSGROVE Sporting claimed an impressive 3-0 victory against Banbury United to end a run of five straight home defeats dating back to last season.

The Rouslers claimed a much-needed win at the Victoria Ground courtesy of goals from Gustavo Sanches and Jack Newell after an own goal put the home side ahead.

The result leaves Sporting 19th in the Southern League Premier Central table, inside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Sporting broke the deadlock on 29 minutes when Josh Flanagan turned Jack Kelly’s dangerous free-kick into his own net.

And the home side doubled their lead on 37 minutes as Sanches marked his first start of the season with a goal as he curled a shot around stranded Banbury goalkeeper Jack Harding from 20-yards out.

The Rouslers sealed the points two minutes from time when Newell found the bottom corner from inside the box after good hold-up play from Aston Villa loanee Charlie Pavey.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Barwell on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
