A BROMSGROVE crocheting club have created hundreds of knitted toy mice to be donated to cat homes and rescue centres across the UK.

Hook Buddies crochet club, which meets at Bromsgrove Library every Tuesday (10am to 12 noon), has so far knitted 200 of the little mice as part of Women’s Weekly magazine’s latest Get Together project.

The magazine regularly hosts charity craft campaigns. This most recent campaign is calling for thousands of little crochet mice to be gifted to cats at rescue centres.

Women’s Weekly’s project is also hoping to claim a new Guinness World Record to add its existing three for previous charity crocheting campaigns.

Every person or group taking part will have the opportunity of buying a participation certificate for a reduced price, should the project secure a record.

Previously, readers have been asked to make animal blankets for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, hats for homeless people, poppies to mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War, and blankets and teddies for the Ukraine Relief Group.

It’s most recent campaign called for twiddle mats and arm muffs to be made for those living with dementia in the UK.
