A RANGE of free activities are available this summer for children and young people eligible for free school meals in Bromsgrove.
As part of the national programme, Bromsgrove Sport & Leisure Centre will host an array of free activities, all accompanied by free lunches.
Activities over the summer holiday include Clip ‘n’ Climb, swimming, arts & crafts and multisport – all of which designed to appeal to different age groups and interests.
Swimming sessions will help children build confidence in the water and improve their swimming skills, while Clip n Climb will challenge physical abilities and help build strength.
Multisport sessions will offer a variety of team-based games and activities, promoting social interaction and healthy competition amongst participants.
Arts and crafts activities are designed to encourage creativity and support mental wellbeing.
Every session will include a free nutritious and balanced lunchtime meal.
Ben Betteridge, contract manager at Everyone Active who run the centre alongside Bromsgrove District Council, said: “We are thrilled to be part of the national HAF programme and enable children of all ages to keep active and have fun over the summer, no matter their financial circumstances.
“We’re inviting children from across the Bromsgrove area to join us for a fantastic programme of activities designed to keep them moving, making friends and learning new skills.”
Sessions will take place from Monday to Friday, 11am to 3pm for five weeks starting Monday July, 28. The programme will not run on August 15 and 25.
Portfolio holder for leisure, councillor Bernard McEldowney who said: “This programme is essential to ensure a Summer Holiday is available to all our younger residents.”
The activities forms part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.
