TRAVEL ALERT - Warning to bus passengers as Bromsgrove roadworks cause more disruption

PASSENGERS ARE being warned of diversions to two bus services due to roadworks in Bromsgrove, writes Neil Gordon.

The 144 First Group service between Worcester and Catshill is currently unable to travel along Worcester Road, Hanover Street and part of St Johns Street for five days from Monday (July 21) to Friday (July 25), while planned drainage work is being carried out near to the entrance of Bromsgrove School.

The eastbound diversion route (Worcester to Catshill) follows Charford Road, the A38, New Road, St John Street and Market Street through to Bromsgrove Bus Station.

The westbound diversion route (Catshill to Worcester) from Bromsgrove bus station is via Market Street, St John Street, New Road, the A38 and Charford Road.

The diversion is in place while planned drainage work is being undertaken by Ringway on behalf of Worcestershire County Council.

The work is expected to be completed on time despite delays caused by a gas leak next to the planned drainage works, which required a section of Worcester Road to be opened up and the leak fixed.

Bromsgrove School’s main entrance on Worcester Road can still be accessed by vehicles from the island at the junction of Charford Road and Rock Hill, while pedestrians can get past the road works from the town centre side.

318 Bromsgrove to Stourbridge

The 318 to Stourbridge is also being diverted

Additionally, the 318 Bromsgrove to Stourbridge service operated by Kev’s Cars and Coaches is being diverted on its outward route from Bromsgrove railway station in Aston Fields.

This service will now travel along Finstall Road, Heyden Road and Alcester Road where it will join Regents Park Road and continue on with its timetabled route.

It is currently being diverted off New Road (War Memorial) to the A38.

This diversion is in force for three months until October due to A38 BREP Scheme Works, with no vehicle access permitted to Regents Park Road from Oakalls island.
