BROMSGROVE CC suffered a six-wicket defeat against new league leaders Stourport-on-Severn.

The home side restricted Bromsgrove to 188-7 from their 50 overs at Walshes Meadow.

And Siddarth Ahhuja inspired Stourport to victory in just 30 overs with six wickets to spare.

The result means Bromsgrove sit third in the Worcestershire County League Premier Division table.

Stourport won the toss and elected to field as Bromsgrove openers Oliver Mason (24) and Jayden Levitt (23) put on 37 runs for the first wicket.

However, Levitt and Liam Ridings (0) fell in quick succession to the bowling of Junaid Iqbal (2-42).

And Ahhuja (4-46) then accounted for Mason and Greg Chinn (0) before Naeem Abass (1-35) had Timothy Barnes (9) stumped.

However, a fine knock from Alex Milton (79 not out) saw Bromsgrove recover from 95-5 to close to the 200-run mark.

Kidderminster lost opener Peter Hawk (1) in the second over of their reply while Jamie Brighton (8) also fell to the bowling of Will Tuffin (2-43).

And Kidderminster’s other opener Samuel Foley (45) scored at a rate of more than a run-a-ball before he was bowled by George Flowers (1-42).

However, an 82-run partnership between Ahhuja (89 not out) Sam Beadsworth (22) put Stourport on top.

Ahhuja hit 17 boundaries in a 70-ball innings while quick runs from Rob Willis (17 not out) helped the home side to victory in 30 overs with six wickets to spare.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Lye on Saturday, June 28 with the match to start at 12pm at St Godwalds Park.
