A YOUNG Scout in Bromsgrove has achieved one of the top awards available within Scouting for someone of his age.
Charlie Harris, a young leader at Lickey and Blackwell Scouts, has completed a host of tasks, challenges and training to earn himself the prestigious accolade.
The young scout leader, who started as a Beaver Scout in May 2013 has progressed through the ranks from Cub Scout and Scout to Explorer Scout. As an Explorer Scout, aged 14, he began volunteering as a young leader supporting Cub Scouts aged eight to 11.
As a young leader at Lickey and Blackwell, Charlie has completed the volunteering sections for various Duke of Edinburgh Awards as well as 11 modules of training and four Young Leader Missions.
These include running a game, running an activity, contributing to programme planning and taking responsibility for organising and running part of a section programme.
Leader Volunteer for Lickey and Blackwell Scout Group, Matthew Fox said: “Congratulations Charlie, the Young Leader Belt is one of the Top Awards that a young person can achieve in Scouting.”
He was recently presented his Young Leader Award by Cub Scout Team Lead, Heather Mace.

Roles are available working directly with young people from ages four to 24 as well as roles as supporters and trustees.
