BROMSGROVE’S newly elected chairman has chosen prominent youth homeless support charity The Basement Project as his civic beneficiary for the year.
The Basement Project is an independent local charity supporting young people under 25 with any issues or problems they are experiencing.
Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, councillor Sam Evans, said: “I am delighted to announce my chosen civic charity for the year.
“The Basement Project plays a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our local community, and I look forward to working closely with them to raise awareness and much-needed funds.
“I hope residents across the District will join me in supporting this important cause.”
The chairman will now begin helping his year of fundraising for his chosen charity at civic events all across the district.
CEO of The Basement Project, Caleb Mallard, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to councillor Evans for choosing us.
“This support means so much — not only does it help raise vital funds, but it also shines a light on the challenges young people are facing and the importance of supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
“We’re looking forward to working together over the coming year to make a real difference in our community.”
