RAIDERS tried to force their way into the Co-op in Charford, Bromsgrove, in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
Significant damage was caused to the front of the store in Gilbert Road but the would-be thieves were unable to get access.
The Standard was contacted by concerned members of the public who saw a large police presence and the area cordoned off. Repairs were also being made to the doors.
Police said they were called out to the scene and are investigating – enquiries are ongoing.
This is not the first time the store – which also contains a Post Office – has been targeted. In October 2022, thieves attempted to ram raid the building in a bid to gain access but again were unsuccessful. They also, on that occasion, caused significant damage to the front.
