NORTH SOLIHULL won the Intermediate Cup with a 2-1 victory over Hopwood Swifts to end the season with a piece of silverware after just missing out on the Birmingham and District Football League Division Two title, writes Neil Gordon.
Goals from Chad Wilkes and Harvey Gibbins saw Solihull claim the trophy after the Coleshill Road side had narrowly missed out on the Division Two title to Silhill when agonisingly losing their title-deciding fixture against the champions 2-1.
Silhill secured the league title with 47 points from a possible 60 available, and finished just two points ahead of runners-up North Solihull who finished with 45 points.
Silhill recorded 15 victories, two draws and just three defeats from their 20 league fixtures, and also won eight of their final ten games to claim the title.
The curtain was brought down on the 2024-2025 season with the completion of the final two fixtures which saw Redditch Borough enjoy a 5-4 victory at Walsall Phoenix to climb off bottom of the table, and be replaced by Polesworth North Warwicks who went down 4-0 at home to Nechells Athletic.
Hampton Sports finished the season in third on 42 points, just three points off runners-up spot after losing only once in their final ten games.
Bromsgrove Rovers AFC finished a creditable fourth after playing their first season in a higher league, accumulating 37 points.
Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons completed the top half of the table in fifth on 34 points, after a strong second-half of the season which saw them win 10 of their final 13 games.
The bottom half of the table sees Hopwood Swifts take sixth-place with 32 points, as well as reaching the final of the Intermediate Cup.
Nechells Athletic claimed seventh spot with 28 points and ended the season with three straight victories.
Some 13 points then separate Nechells in seventh from eighth placed Match of The Day who finished the season on 15 points. The Day ended the season disappointingly with three defeats and had six points deducted by the League for being unable to field a team in two of their fixtures.
Ninth place went to Walsall Phoenix who collected 13 points from their campaign and impressively beat Hampton Sports in their penultimate fixture, to deny Sports a possible joint runners-up spot.
Finally, the two relegation places went to Redditch Borough in 10th on 11 points and Polesworth North Warwicks in 11th place just a point behind on 10.
And Yardley Wood FC resigned from Division Two during the season with their results duly expunged.
A spokesperson for the Birmingham and District Football League confirmed there are no outstanding Division Two fixtures and added: “As per Rule, we have to promote the top two sides in Divisions Two to Six and everything else is at our League Management Committee discretion.
“We will decide on and formulate each Division in July.”
