YOUNG footballers from Bromsgrove are celebrating after winning the under-13s Mercian League Cup.
Pupils from Aston Fields, St John’s, St Bede’s and Alvechurch middle schools and Waseley Hills High School featured as Academy Kicks Wolves lifted the Mercian League Cup.
The Bromsgrove-based Wolves thrashed Oldbury Park Siberians 8-2 in the final at Pershore Town’s Community Stadium.
Managers, Bryn Wigley and Greg Pinfield said: “It was a thoroughly deserved win, even with a few nerves here and there, all of the players worked their socks off.
“We are incredibly proud of how hard the boys have worked throughout the season to reach the final and their commitment to training and the match itself.”
Wolves lifted the trophy after Freddie Finn scored a hat-trick while man of the match Thom Mapp netted a brace.
And Harrison Broadhurst also scored twice while Theo Barr found the net to add some gloss to the scoreline.
The team, managers and families celebrated the victory at Ascott’s Sports Bar in Aston Fields.
The cup will now be passed around between the players so they can each take it home in turn.
