SEVEN girls from Bromsgrove are a part of the Invert Gymnastics group that helped their team win 12 medals and the George Finney Trophy at the Floor and Vault Championship, writes Mia Whitehouse.

The team of 15 girls competed at the competition at the West Midlands Regional Gymnastics Competition at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday, March 16.

Beth Smith, Head Coach for the team, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the gymnasts, everyone of them did their absolute best and should be delighted with their performance.

“This was our first time entering this competition and for many girls it was their first time competing, so to walk away with twelve medals and the George Finney Trophy is amazing.”

Competing against 15 other British Gymnastics registered clubs, the girls from Invert Gymnastics showcased a talent and determination that won them some standout results.

The under 9 beginner girls came second as a team, individually winning first and fourth place.

The under 11 beginner girls came fourth as a team, individually winning second and fourth place.

The under 13 beginner girls individually won first and third place.

The under 15 beginner girls individually won first, second and third place.

Erin Judd, one of the under 15 gymnasts, said: “I felt over the moon, it was great to get out there and show everyone what Invert is about.

“I’m so proud of my friends and myself for our achievements, it was such a fun day and experience competing against so many clubs and I can’t wait for the next one.”

Invert Gymnastics is based in Selly Oak, with the team meeting every Monday evenings and Sundays, and trial sessions being free to join.
