BROMSGROVE Sporting took a giant leap towards safety with a 3-1 victory against relegation-threatened Lowestoft Town.
An early goal from Theo Robinson put Sporting ahead before a stunning strike from Carter Lycett doubled the home side’s lead at the Victoria Ground.
And Robinson scored from the penalty spot after the break to extend Bromsgrove’s lead before Travis Cole netted a consolation for the visitors.
The result means the Rouslers sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
And Bromsgrove boss Scott Adey-Linforth admits Sporting are in control of their own destiny with four matches left to play.
Adey-Linforth said: “We wanted to start fast, it was really pleasing, I thought we started brilliantly.
“We were fairly comfortable, I wasn’t worried, we defended well, disappointed to concede but three points is the most important thing.
“I’m not going to say we’re safe until it’s mathematically done but we’re in a very good position, it’s in our hands.”
Sporting made the perfect start as Robinson broke the deadlock after just five minutes when he turned the ball home from virtually on the goal line after good work from Billy Shaw down the left.
And the Rouslers doubled their lead in style on 39 minutes when Lycett picked up a loose ball before lashing a sensational effort into the net on the half volley via the underside of the crossbar from 25-yards out.
Sporting all but sealed the points five minutes after half time as the referee pointed to the spot after the ball popped up onto the arm of Lowestoft defender Cole in the box.
And Robinson kept his cool to send Warren Burwood the wrong way from the spot as he placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal.
Lowestoft reduced the deficit on 69 minutes when Harvey Sayer played in Cole who fired a low shot past the onrushing Charlie Price.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Royston Town on Saturday, April 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Garden Walk.
